Stafford Injured in Lions’ Incredible Win
Filed under: Browns, Lions, NFL Injuries
When two bad teams get together, sometimes they can produce some great theater. Such was the case Sunday in Detroit, where a pair of 1-8 teams gave fans one of the day's best games. At the end, a penalty that was called on the game's last play gave the homestanding Lions one untimed down from the Cleveland 1. They made it count, as rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford hit tight end Brandon Pettigrew for six, and a Jason Hanson extra point gave Detroit a 38-37 win.

I was there. Very entertaining game. Much bigger than expected turnout (OSU-Michigan game spillover?) Few “resell” tickets for sale outside. Box office was selling tickets through the first quarter. TV Blacked out in Detroit.
My brother and I were treated to a very entertaining game and a party atmosphere lasting well after the game. It was as close to a superbowl victory that the Lions have had since there were superbowls.
Potentially without Stafford and Calvin Johnson, the annual Thanksgiving day meeting with the GB Packers can only be anti-climatic. Perhaps the CBS local affiliate could replay this game instead?
You know–bring a little joy to Mudville?
